Citizen science and conservation education as tools to empower rural communities conserving threatened species in La Amistad Biosphere Reserve

Our general objective will be to empower the rural communities at La Amistad Biosphere Reserve in the conservation of the threatened species present in the Río Cotón Watershed. In order to achieve this objective, we have three specific objectives: 1. Establishing a citizen science program in the rural communities for the monitoring of seven vertebrate threatened species. 2. Strengthening an education program for conservation in 14 local schools. 3. Designing a local conservation plan with participation of the community for the conservation of seven vertebrate threatened species.
