The Satucita Foundation established on 2009 and registered in Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Satucita Foundation is established to conserve freshwater turtles, tortoises and their habitat in Indonesia. We have missions to carry out researches, conservation activities, training, environmental education on freshwater turtle, tortoise and their habitat. We work closely with local people and stakeholders.
Satucita Foundation is working to conserve freshwater turtles and tortoises in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia, since year 2009. Currently we are working on some species: Painted Terrapin (B.borneoensis), Spiny Turtle (H.spinosa) and Asian Forest Tortoise (Manouria emys) in District of Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia. Supported by Turtle Survival Alliance, we have established a small and basic headstarting facility to hatch and raise hatchlings before released into habitat. This facility is functioned to raise the offspring, to educate people, especially students, about freshwater turtles and conservation.
