Finding a Rare and Endangered Togean Damselfly: Population Survey, Distribution, and Conservation of Rhinocypha togeanesis in Togean Islands, Sulawesi, Indonesia
The result of this project will be expected to (i) provide updated data on the population size and distribution of Rhinocypha togeanensis in Batudaka Island, (ii) assess the threats in their natural habitat, and (iii) provide conservation strategies to save Rhinocypha togeanensis from extinction through (a) habitat restoration and protection (restore microhabitat, such as logs wood in the water, cleaning the stream together with the local community and provide signboard in recreation area in Tanimpo Waterfall to conserve R. togeanensis), (b) build local community awareness (education program to 5 elementary schools surround Batudaka Island, and seminar to the local community and government), and (c) long-term monitoring of Odonata through empowering young community in surrounding Togean Islands by using citizen science approach (i-Naturalist platform or online form).
