Screening diseases for urgent conservation actions in order to protect and save Land Birds of French Polynesia

Screening diseases for urgent conservation actions in French Polynesia Avian malaria have been discovered on Fatu Hiva and threaten the survival of the lasts Fatu Hiva monarchs (20 adults only). This project will allow to improve our knowledge and to screen diseases on introduced and endemic birds living on Ua Huka, Tahiti and Fatu Hiva to improve our capacity to face or anticipate disease impact.

- identify possible diseases threats to Ua Huka avifauna by screening diseases on 60-120 introduced birds - identify avian malaira threats to Fatu Hiva avifauna by screening samples collected on 20-40 introduced birds and analysing samples collected on Fatu Hiva monarchs - identify possible avian malaria threats to Tahiti monarch by screening samples collected on 20-40 introduced birds living within Tahiti monarch territories and analysing samples collected on Tahiti monarchs
