Save Microberlinia bisulcata
Efforts to save Microberlinia bisulcata a CR and endemic species of Mt Cameroon has failed because of ignorance of its conservation, the lack of resources for effective monitoring and the absence of a legal restriction on the logging of the species.
We will thus address this through sensitization, empowerment of local authorities to protect it and a circular to restrict logging of the species.

FFI is working to conserve the Ziyuan fir tree in Southern China by partnering with local communities to improve management of the Yinzhulaoshan PNR, thereby protecting the remaining 600 trees and promoting its natural regeneration. To achieve this goal, FFI aims to implement regulations for co-management of the reserve, reduce incidences of habitat disturbance, and foster positive attitudes towards conservation in local communities.

Acacia anegadensis is a Critically Endangered plant species, endemic to the British Virgin Islands. Although locally abundant on the island of Anegada, the future of this species is not guaranteed. Its main habitat is under extreme pressure for residential and tourism development. This project will investigate the distribution and genetic diversity of A. anegadensis, which is vital knowledge to inform conservation actions.

Dioscorea strydomiana is only known from one location and there are fewer than 250 extant mature individuals. The extremely restricted range and small population size, combined with a very long reproductive cycle, weak recruitment, a major threat from harvesting for medicinal purposes, all make this yam extremely threatened - the most highly threatened yam in the world.

The present study aims to explore the demographic tendencies of Eriosyce chilensis, a species distributed in an extremely narrow coastal strip in the Mediterranean zone at central Chile. To infer the demographic tendencies of E. chilensis we will conduct detailed mapping of the species distribution, filogeographic analyses and reproductive experiments.
