Conservation of fishing cat and its mangrove habitats in Godavari delta, India

The main objectives of the proposed study are:

1. To ascertain the distribution patterns of fishing cat in the differing land-use types in Godavari Delta in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, India, especially focusing on mangrove patches outside Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary (WLS).

2. To study the feeding ecology of fishing cats in the different habitats in Godavari delta.

3. To increase awareness about this threatened species as well as about the importance of mangrove protection among the local communities.
