Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 250537672) - Hopea celebica - Awarded $5,000 on June 02, 2025

Hopea celebica is one of the endemic species of the Dipterocarpacea Family which is limited and threatened in Sulawesi Island. This conservation research was conducted in Central Sulawesi Province, with a series of research activities and conservation actions. The purpose of this research is to identify the distribution of species and their potential habitats, genetic confirmation, nursery development, and conservation campaigns. By involving various elements of society, ranging from young researchers and local researchers, participatory-based local communities, it is hoped that it can increase conservation efforts for the H. celebica species in Indonesia. The output of this research is a complete profile of the H. celebica species, a potential distribution map, and a mini nursery for further conservation actions, as well as journal articles to confirm the importance of H. celebica species conservation. This project was initiated by the SSRS Indonesia Biodiversity Hub https://biodiversitas-indonesia.or.id/.
