Young Biologists Association (YBA) NGO joins young biologists, specializing in different fields of biology and realizing research works. More than 120 students and young scientists from various universities and scientific-research institutions of Armenia and abroad are members of the association. We have also honorary members, who are leading Armenian scientists. Our mission is promotion of biology, introduction and development of new educational and research technologies in Armenia. The basic directions of its activities are to promote the involvement of youth into the nature's conservation programs and implement environmental educational programs. The NGO also promotes a “green lifestyle” and organizes various events to raise public awareness of issues related to biodiversity conservation and climate change in Armenia. We have established YBA Conservation and Biodiversity Research Group, members of which are professional biodiversity researchers. YBA is member of Earth Day Network, IUCN Countdown2010 initiative and Infra Eco Network Europe. Our objectives are: • organization of young biologists' education through modern educational and research technologies • instillation of that modern educational and research technologies in research and higher educational institutions • improvement of young scientists' computer skills • organization of competitions, scientific meetings, round-table talks, seminars, • provision of talented biologists' continual education • organization of biological, biomedical, biochemical, biophysical and scientific researches with the participation of young biologists • organization of periodical publications, making reports to publish the scientific works of young biologists' • promote ecological education and biodiversity conservation The Young Biologists Association (YBA) Non-Governmental Organization was established in February, 2009 Geographical area of the project: Ararat Valley, Armenia Target species: Phrynocephalus horvathi (CR IUCN), Eremias pleskei (CR IUCN), Testudo graeca (VU IUCN)
