Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 250537269) - Modigliani’s nose-horned lizard - Awarded $5,000 on June 02, 2025

The primary goal of this project is to conduct a comprehensive survey of the herpetofauna species inhabiting the highland forests of Geopark Caldera Toba, with a particular focus on two key sites: Mount Sibuatan and the Taman Eden 100 forest landscape. This initiative represents the first attempt to document the full diversity of species in the region, including the targeted Modigliani's Nose-horned Lizard. The project aims to: 1) Conduct field surveys to identify and assess the distribution, population status, and threats facing Modigliani's Nose-horned Lizard. 2) Investigate the reptile trade and keeping practices in Berastagi City and surrounding areas to evaluate potential threats to Modigliani’s Nose-horned Lizard and other reptile species and share findings through publications in scientific journals or popular articles to support broader conservation efforts
