Tiny Squeaker Frog (Arthroleptis kidogo)

Mohamed bin Zayed Species project number 232532970

Saving the Critically Endangered Tiny Squeaker frog (Arthroleptis kidogo) in Tanzania.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 232532970) - Tiny Squeaker Frog - Awarded $10,000 on May 07, 2024

The overall objective of this project is to assess the current population and distribution of Arthroleptis kidogo in the Mkingu nature forest reserve. Since the species is only known to be from one small locality (near Ubiri village within the reserve) it is possible that this species may be found in other areas of the Mkingu nature forest reserve. Also, the project will develop an action plan for the conservation of this unique species and its habitat, reduce threats to the frog’s survival and enhance in-country amphibian conservation capacity. More specifically, the project aims to collect robust data that will help to answer some of the questions about the population size, distribution, threats to the existence of this species and will address the recognized data gaps highlighted by the IUCN red list.
