Conservation of criollo oak (Amburana cearensis) after the mega-fires of 2019 and 2020 in the Bolivian Chiquitano dry forests.

The objectives of our projects are: 

·        -To assess the current state of conservation of criollo oak (Amburana cearensis) populations after the mega-fires of 2019 and 2020 in the Bolivian Chiquitano dry forest.

·       - To propose and implement in situ species-specific strategies for conservation and sustainable use and management.

·        - To engage multi-stakeholders in the development of conservation and management plans that promote indigenous knowledge and practices.

·        - To determine the current spatial distribution of A. cearensis in the Chiquitano dry forest based on the modelling of geo-referenced occurrences and environmental variables.

·        - To analyse the population structure and determine the dynamics of regeneration.

·      -To evaluate the associated habitat and its level of affectation by fires through the remotely-sensed index for assessing burn severity (dNBR index).

·      -To identify the main threats and problems affecting the populations of Amburana ceareansis in the study area.
